Australia add Mitchell Marsh for Perth Ashes Test

Australia have recalled Perth native Mitchell Marsh for the third Ashes Test at the WACA.

Steve Smith's men will be eyeing the urn's return in Perth, having taken a 2-0 series lead by beating England by 120 runs at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.

Shaun Marsh's unbeaten 126 was pivotal and the younger sibling has a chance to make an impact on home turf, having shone as Western Australia captain in the Sheffield Shield this season.

Mitchell Marsh has scored 402 runs at an average of 44.66, including recent scores of 95 and 141.

The all-rounder replaces Chadd Sayers in the hosts' 13-man party.

South Australia seamer Sayers was added with an eye on using him at Adelaide, where he has developed a fine swinging action, but Smith opted not to make a change and the Australia attack was given sufficient rest as the skipper controversially opted not to enforce the follow-on.

Mitchell Marsh's ability to back-up Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins could see him involved, however, with his elder brother perhaps bumped up the order if Australia's selectors deem Peter Handscomb scratchy form worthy of action.

England head coach Trevor Bayliss seems set to resist calls for Mark Wood to be drafted into England's squad, suggesting after the Adelaide defeat that little will change for Perth.

Australia squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird.
