Coach Brad Thorn has told Quade Cooper and Nick Frisby they are not part of his plans in a new era at Queensland Reds.
Cooper returned to the Super Rugby franchise last year following a short spell with Toulon, but looks set to be on the move again.
The playmaker, omitted from Australia's squad for the tour of the northern hemisphere, signed a three-year contract with Reds and the Australian Rugby Union, yet new coach Thorn has decided to he is surplus to requirements.
Scrum-half Frisby has also been informed that he is not required by former New Zealand international Thorn.
"I've had honest conversations with Quade Cooper and Nick Frisby about where they currently sit in our plans for 2018," Thorn said.
"They're not training with the Reds at the moment and will be training with their clubs instead."
The mercurial Cooper has been linked with a move to Japan.
