Kirisome Auva'a scored a double as Parramatta Eels demonstrated their top-four NRL credentials with a 28-14 victory over Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks beat New Zealand Warriors to go second.
The in-form Eels have now won five consecutive matches after roaring back following an ominous start from Wayne Bennett's side at ANZ Stadium on Friday.
Brisbane were 12-0 up inside 10 minutes, Matt Gillett opened the scoring with a try following great work from James Roberts, who celebrated his new four-year deal by going over himself soon after.
Parramatta were level with only 19 minutes on the clock courtesy of converted tries from Tepai Moeroa and Auva'a, but Jordan Kahu edged Brisbane back in front with a penalty after also converting both scores.
The Eels took charged after the break, Auva'a and Bevan French finishing after two Mitchell Moses penalties to make it a miserable return for fit-again Broncos captain Darius Boyd.
Defending premiers Cronulla struck another blow to the Warriors' slim finals hopes with a 26-12 win at Mount Smart Stadium.
Kurt Capewell and Fa'amanu Brown crossed in the first half for Cronulla, who gave themselves breathing space with scores from former Warriors Sosaia Feki and Jayson Bukuya after the interval.
Cronulla lost Brown to a nasty head injury, but were not to be denied a 13th win of the season.
