Chris Froome is far from being the most loved man in Paris but he will hold a special place in hearts of one couple after playing his part in a marriage proposal following his Tour de France triumph on Sunday.
Froome sipped champagne during the 21st and final stage of the Tour as he celebrated with his Team Sky colleagues before crossing the line in the Champs-Elysees.
The Brit greeted his wife Michelle and young son Kellan before mingling with the crowds after winning the race for a fourth time in the French capital.
Froome has struggled to win the hearts of the majority of the French public, but proved he can be a man of the people after his third consecutive Tour de France success.
The champion handed a box containing an engagement ring to a spectator at the side of the road and said "I've been carrying this around for three weeks!"
He hung around to watch the man go down on one knee and pop the question to his shocked partner, who gave a positive response before Froome moved on to continue his charm offensive.
Seems he can do no wrong.
