Justin Rose, meanwhile, addressed the media as a genuine contender nearly two decades on from pitching in on the 18th at the same venue to finish tied fourth as a 17-year-old amateur, in what remains the 2013 U.S. Open winner's best result in this event.
Sergio Garcia, who defeated Rose at the Masters in April, took part in a very public display of affection with fiancée Angela Akins ahead of their impending marriage.
