Stenson tells McIlroy: I'm king of the rings

Rory McIlroy has had a new addition to his playing attire since getting married in April, but Henrik Stenson's not impressed.

The Northern Irishman now sports a wedding ring and wears it proudly as he plays - unlike reigning Open champion Stenson.

That's not to say Stenson isn't a happily married man, but the Swede stores his marital silverware in his bag because he claims its considerable size would disrupt his grip.

Asked ahead of his Claret Jug defence at Royal Birkdale if McIlroy might be encountering a similar issue, Stenson - playfully spinning the jewelry on his finger - pointed out that his ring was probably just bigger than his rival's.

"Obviously it doesn't hinder him," said Stenson. "He's probably got a smaller ring, not in the same kind of bracket as I am."
