Saints late show seals Catalans victory
St Helens battled to a 46-28 win over Catalans Dragons to boost their bid for a top-four finish heading into the final round of matches before the Super League splits for the remainder of the season.
Saints were already assured of their place in the Super 8s, so their attention had already turned to achieving a place in play-offs, while Catalans were guaranteed a Qualifiers campaign before their fifth defeat in six matches.
The teams scored three tries apiece in a tight first half that ended with Saints holding a 20-18 advantage over their visitors, having fallen behind on three separate occasions.
Justin Horo's second try of the match sent Catalans in front for a fourth time early in the second half, but touchdowns from Jonny Lomax, Mark Percival, Luke Thompson and Ryan Morgan saw Saints soar clear for the win.
A converted Richie Myler effort pulled Catalans to within two points, but Saints' three tries in the last six minutes put the match to bed.
Saints now sit just three points adrift of fourth-placed Wakefield Trinity.
