Newcastle Knights have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Brisbane Broncos prop Herman Ese'ese.
Broncos coach Wayne Bennett confirmed that Ese'ese will leave Suncorp Stadium at the end of the season to join the Knights, who are rooted at the bottom of the NRL ladder.
Bennett revealed that salary-cap restrictions prevented the Broncos from keeping the promising New Zealander.
"He's going to Newcastle. He's going," he confirmed ahead of the Broncos visiting the Knights on Saturday.
"He's done great but that's how the salary cap works. He was looking for a little bit more income and we couldn't match that."
Ese'ese has made great strides for Brisbane this season, but is currently out of action due to a knee injury.
