Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane will miss his side's trip to Perpignan to face Catalans Dragons as he requires surgery on his hip.
The Warriors boss will hand the reigns to his deputy John Winder for Saturday's Super League contest, but is set to name the team himself.
Wane said the issue has been plaguing him for some time and is a result of "wear and tear" from his own rugby league playing days.
"I'm not there on Saturday. I need an operation. I'm in absolute agony with my hip. It is wear and tear from rugby," he said.
"I'm gutted. It's the first match I've missed ever, but I've got a good staff, so there's no stress. That makes it a lot easier."
Wane says he won't be travelling to France with the team as he is due to have a hip operation on Saturday.-- Wigan Warriors (@WiganWarriorsRL) July 5, 2017
The match has big ramifications on the race for a Super 8s spot, with Wigan - who are seventh - just four points clear of the Dragons with three regular-season matches to play.
