Stanton, not Judge, is top seed for Home Run Derby

Defending Home Run Derby champion Giancarlo Stanton is the top seed for the 2017 event in Miami, ahead of New York Yankees star Aaron Judge.

The Miami Marlins' Stanton, who has 23 home runs this season after hitting two on Wednesday, will face off in the first round of the Derby against Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez, who has 13 home runs.

It will be another Yankees-Marlins matchup on the other side with Judge, who has an MLB-high 29 homers, going against Miami first baseman Justin Bour (18 homers).

The rest of the Home Run Derby bracket, which was released by MLB on Wednesday, will have Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas - and his 24 homers - against Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano (20).

The other first-round matchup is Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Cody Bellinger, and his National League-best 24 homers, against Colorado Rockies leadoff hitter Charlie Blackmon (19).

Stanton is the only player with previous Derby experience.
