Warrick Gelant scored a hat-trick as the Bulls pulled off a Super Rugby shock with a 30-17 derby victory over the Sharks.
The Bulls had won just three games all season prior to Friday's clash at Kings Park, but produced a fine display to improve that record against opposition already assured of a play-off place.
Full-back Gelant crossed twice in the first half to give his side the edge, after Thomas du Toit had responded to Nick de Jager's opening score for the Bulls.
Trailing 20-10 early in the second half, the Sharks were given renewed hope courtesy of an eye-catching score, which saw Curwin Bosch touch down after the hosts' front-row forwards had thrown the ball around speculatively from a quick lineout.
However, the Bulls responded almost immediately as the pacy Gelant completed his hat-trick following fine work from Jan Serfontein - the Springbok centre hitting a great line to make a half-break before throwing a long pass wide.
There were to be no further tries and the Bulls were able to celebrate a long-overdue first away win of the season.
