Yankees place Castro on 10-day DL

The New York Yankees placed second baseman Starlin Castro on the 10-day disabled list after he left Monday's game with a hamstring injury.

Castro pulled up lame running to first base in a 6-5 win against the Chicago White Sox.

There is no word on the severity of the injury, but Castro stated Monday that he did not believe he suffered a muscle tear.

Castro heads to the shelf batting .313 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs this season. Ronald Torreyes takes his place on Tuesday.

The Yankees also signed and selected infield prospect Tyler Wade to take Castro's spot on the roster.

Although the Yankees have lost 10 of their last 13 games, they remain tied with the Boston Red Sox atop the American League (AL) East.
