Widnes Vikings' Super League revival continued on Thursday as they moved off the bottom of the table with a 36-10 victory over Leigh Centurions.
Corey Thompson and Chris Houston both scored twice as the Vikings climbed above Leigh with a third win in their last four games.
Widnes' upturn in form may have come too late to snatch a place in the Super 8s but their morale will undoubtedly be boosted, which should help them if they have to preserve their Super League place in The Qualifiers.
For Leigh, there was brief respite in the second half as Nick Rawsthorne and Atelea Vea both touched down, but Thompson raced the length of the field for his second to wrestle control back for Widnes.
Ryan Ince and Matt Whitley added some extra gloss to the win for Widnes who are now only five points behind Wigan Warriors in eighth - albeit having played a game more.
