From 'Ice Man' to 'Nice Man' - Raikkonen consoles distraught young fan

Updated:

Kimi Raikkonen may have been disappointed to have crashed out at the first turn of the Spanish Grand Prix, but he made one young Ferrari fan's day.

Raikkonen swept down the outside of Valtteri Bottas at lights out in Barcelona, only for his fellow Finn to clip his right-rear tyre as the took the opening corner.

The Ferrari driver bounced to his left and collided with Max Verstappen, the two cars going off track and sustaining race-ending damage.

Television cameras caught the reaction of a child in Ferrari team gear who was in tears after Raikkonen's premature exit.

They soon turned to smiles, though. The Finn has a reputation for being a grumpy character yet showed his softer side by going to meet the youngster and pose for photographs.

It was a truly heart-warming moment and saw Raikkonen complete his transformation from 'Ice Man' to 'Nice Man'.
