Bangladesh recovery halted by rain against Ireland

Updated:

Tamim Iqbal's unbeaten 64 helped Bangladesh recover from a shaky start in the first game of the tri-nation series against Ireland before rain forced the match to be abandoned.

Peter Chase (3-33) dismissed Soumya Sarkar (5) and Sabbir Rahman (0) early on to leave Bangladesh on 9-2, but they had reached 157-4 before rain stopped play.

And the contest at Malahide was unable to resume, Tamim and Mahmudullah (43 not out) left frustrated after leading the fightback.

The second match of the tri-series sees Ireland face New Zealand on Sunday.
