Sydney Roosters have launched an investigation amid reports star Shaun Kenny-Dowall has been charged with drug possession.
Kenny-Dowall, a New Zealand international who has made over 200 appearances for the Roosters and helped them to the NRL title in 2013, was said to have been arrested at a nightclub in Sydney on Friday having allegedly been found with cocaine.
A statement on the Roosters' website read: "The Sydney Roosters have been advised of an incident that occurred overnight involving Shaun Kenny-Dowall.
"The club has commenced an investigation of the matter and has informed the NRL Integrity Unit.
"The club will be making no further comment at this time."
Kenny-Dowall is out of contract at the end of the season and recently met with Newcastle Knights coach Nathan Brown regarding a possible switch.
He has struggled for form this season, scoring just two tries in nine games, and was not included in the Kiwis squad for Friday's Anzac Test with Australia.
