Boston Celtics All-Star Isaiah Thomas plans to get his tooth fixed quickly after his smile was left a little worse for wear in the NBA playoffs.
Thomas fought tooth and nail to lead top seeds the Celtics to a 123-111 win over the Washington Wizards in game one of the Eastern Conference semi-finals on Sunday.
Not only did Thomas score 33 points with nine assists, he did so without all of his teeth after taking a shot to the face.
"It just bothers me to talk. My tongue goes right through my tooth," Thomas told reporters with a slight lisp.
"I've never had dental problems so this is new. I've always had team-mates that I've always clowned them about the tooth being out and now I'm one of them.
"So hopefully we can replace it as soon as possible."
A toothless Thomas was funny to some of his Celtics team-mates after their win at TD Garden.
"I wanted him to smile a little bit more. I don't think he cracked a smile," Jae Crowder said. "But it showed a little bit about what he's about. Because he's just going to keep playing no matter what.
"He's a fighter, man. I'm sure he'll get it fixed, but I just wanted him to smile just to show it off a little bit."
