Jamie Buhrer is set to miss two months of action after the Newcastle Knights forward sustained a fractured foot.
The 27-year-old was injured in a training session on Thursday and was immediately sent for scans.
A Knights statement read: "At Thursday morning's training session, Newcastle Knights forward Jamie Buhrer sustained a fracture in his foot.
"Buhrer had immediate scans, which confirmed he will be sidelined for approximately eight weeks."
It is another disappointment for a Knights side that are bottom of the NRL after six matches, with Buhrer - who joined from Manly Sea Eagles in the close-season - having provided a rare spark for the strugglers.
