Updated:

Top seed Kiki Bertens advanced to the second round of the Copa Colsanitas but defending champion Irina Falconi bowed out.

Bertens needed a little over an hour to emerge triumphant in her first-round encounter on the Colombian clay, seeing off Nina Stojanovic 6-4 6-1 on Tuesday.

Dutchwoman Bertens fired down five aces and converted seven break points at the WTA International tournament in Bogota.

Falconi's title defence ended at the first hurdle, upstaged by Dalila Jakupovic 6-2 6-4.

Slovenian Jakupovic claimed the decisive break in the second set to book her spot in the second round.
