Hurricanes' Milner-Skudder out for at least six weeks

Hurricanes full-back Nehe Milner-Skudder has been ruled out for at least six weeks due to a fractured foot.

Milner-Skudder, 26, suffered the injury during Hurricanes' 26-18 Super Rugby loss to Chiefs in Hamilton on Friday.

While he has avoided surgery, scans revealed a small fracture - ruling him out in a huge blow to Hurricanes.

"It's disappointing, but these things happen in rugby," Milner-Skudder said.

"All I can do is focus on the rehab and making sure I do everything right to get back on the field.

"The encouraging thing is the medical staff don't believe there will be any long-term issues. It was just a freak accident."

Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd said it was hard to tell just how long eight-time All Black Milner-Skudder would be sidelined.

He said: "That all depends on how quickly he heals, so it's just speculation at this point, but the sooner the better."

Milner-Skudder also missed most of last season after needing shoulder surgery in March.

Hurricanes have won two of their opening three games of the season to sit fourth in the Australasian Group.
