Ross Taylor's calf injury has ruled him out of New Zealand's second Test match against South Africa in Wellington, while Trent Boult's hip problem will continue to be assessed.
Taylor sustained the issue on day two of the first Test in Dunedin. He was forced to retire on eight, before returning and finishing 15 not out.
With the start of day five delayed by steady rain at University Oval, New Zealand announced that Taylor would not recover in time for the second instalment of the three-match series, which begins on Thursday.
Left-arm seamer Boult, meanwhile, picked up a hip injury and his progress will be monitored ahead of Wellington.
