Italian Sofia Goggia denied star Lindsey Vonn to claim the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup downhill race at the site for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The Pyeongchang Games will be staged in South Korea next year and the meet was used as a test event on Saturday.
And Goggia emerged triumphant, upstaging Vonn by 0.07 seconds at the Jeongseon course.
Everything pointed to a Vonn win after the American finished quickest in both practice runs and she posted a time of one minute, 38.87secs.
But Vonn's bid for a 78th World Cup victory was scuppered by Goggia, who produced a near-flawless run to finish ahead of the former and overall competition leader Ilka Stuhec.
