Nurmagomedov hospitalised, UFC 209 bout versus Ferguson cancelled

The UFC 209 co-main event bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson has been cancelled after the former was hospitalised, the organisation has confirmed.

Nurmagomedov was hospitalised on Thursday evening due to what UFC described as "weight management medical issues" and was released following treatment.

However, the bout - for the interim lightweight championship - was cancelled on the doctor's recommendation.

UFC 209 will be held in Las Vegas on Saturday, headlined by Tyron Woodley defending his welterweight title against Stephen Thompson in a rematch of their UFC 205 bout in 2016.
