As Formula One teams show off their new cars at glitzy launches this week it was Andre Greipel who benefited from the fastest pit stop at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Greipel will have no time to drop in for a new set of wheels when he competes in the Abu Dhabi Tour this week, but the German opted for a one-stop strategy as he gears up for a four-day race that starts on Thursday.
At the track where Nico Rosberg was crowned world champion for the first time last November, Greipel got a taste of F1 as he stopped off in front of the garages for an alternative pit stop during training.
Lotto Soudal staff were ready and waiting to fit another set of wheels after he briefly climbed off the saddle to take a seat, with another team member cooling him down by wafting a towel in his face.
And the good news for Greipel is there were no stewards on hand to impose a penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
