Kansas City Royals pitcher Brian Flynn will be sidelined for at least eight weeks after breaking his rib in a barn roof fall.
The Royals confirmed the injury on Tuesday, after Flynn fell through a barn roof at his home in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Flynn, 26, also sustained three non-displaced fractures in his vertebrae heading into MLB preseason.
"He was working on his barn and fell through the roof," Royals manager Ned Yost said.
"So he took a pretty good tumble, knocked himself out. He's going to be eight weeks behind everyone else."
Former Miami Marlins pitcher Flynn had a 2.60 ERA in 36 appearances last season.
