Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews will miss the Twenty20 series against Australia this month due to a hamstring injury.
The all-rounder returned home early from the ongoing tour of South Africa after he was hurt in the process of seeing his side to victory in the second T20.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday revealed that the 29-year-old will play no part in a three-match series in Australia, which gets under way at the MCG on February 17.
Dinesh Chandimal skippered Sri Lanka to a 2-1 T20 series victory over the Proteas in the absence of Mathews, but SLC have not yet confirmed who will lead the side in Australia.
The selection committee will meet on Tuesday to finalise the squad and decide upon a captain.
