New Zealand-Australia ODI washed out

The second one-day international between New Zealand and Australia was abandoned due to an unsafe outfield in Napier.

Not a single ball was bowled as the umpires made the decision to call off the ODI approaching 19:00 (local time) in New Zealand on Thursday.

Play was delayed at McLean Park following early downpour and the outfield never recovered, despite ongoing efforts from the ground staff.

The Chappell-Hadlee trophy now heads to Hamilton for the third and final ODI on Sunday, with the Black Caps leading 1-0.

Hosts New Zealand won the opening ODI by six runs in a thrilling encounter in Auckland on Monday.
