Wade to miss second ODI against Black Caps

Matthew Wade will have to wait to become Australia's 25th one-day international captain after being ruled out of the second Chappell-Hadlee match against New Zealand.

Stand-in Wade was forced to sit out Monday's dramatic six-run loss in Auckland due to a back injury, which he has not recovered from in time for Thursday's second ODI in Napier.

Wade has been waiting to deputise in the absence of regular skipper Steve Smith, who is out due to a medial ligament injury in his left ankle.

It means Aaron Finch will captain Australia again as the visitors look to bounce back from their agonising loss at Eden Park.

Marcus Stoinis almost single-handedly lifted Australia to victory with an unbeaten 146, having seen the Aussies slump to 67-6, but his efforts were in vain after Josh Hazlewood was run out at the non-strikers end.
