Jonathan Sexton will not be considered for selection in Ireland's Six Nations opener as he has yet to fully recover from injury.
The influential fly-half suffered a bruised calf in the first half of Leinster's Champions Cup draw with Castres on January 20.
Sexton returned to full training on Tuesday and it was hoped the number 10 would be fit to face Vern Cotter's men at Murrayfield on Saturday.
However, Ireland confirmed via Twitter that Sexton will play no part, despite running in training.
"Squad update: Johnny Sexton has done some running but will not be considered for selection this weekend. #TeamOfUs #shouldertoshoulder," a post read.
Ireland confirmed that Ian Keatley has been training with the squad, while Munster back Rory Scannell is also available as cover.
