Royals to wear Yordano Ventura tribute patch this season
The Kansas City Royals will wear a commemorative patch on their jerseys throughout the 2017 season in tribute to Yordano Ventura, who was killed in a car crash last weekend.
Ventura, a key member of the pitching staff that led the Royals to the 2015 World Series championship, died following the incident in his native Dominican Republic.
In his memory, the Kansas City franchise announced the words "ACE 30" - the pitcher's nickname and number - will adorn their sleeves for the upcoming campaign.
Signed by the Royals as an amateur free agent in 2008, Ventura made his MLB debut in 2013 at 22.
