Injury-hit France draft in Bastareaud and Chiocci
Mathieu Bastareaud and Xavier Chiocci have been called up to the France squad as they prepare for the Six Nations opener against England after Henry Chavancy and Eddy Ben Arous were ruled out.
Uncapped centre Chavancy was only drafted in by Guy Noves on Sunday after Wesley Fofana suffered a ruptured Achilles, which will rule him out of the tournament.
Racing 92 back Chavancy was forced to pull out just a day later, so Toulon powerhouse Bastareaud could make his first international appearance since October 2015 against defending champions England a week on Saturday.
Prop Ben Arous has also been added to the injury list after sustaining a calf problem, giving Chiocci the opportunity to stake a claim to add to his seven caps at Twickenham.
