Newcastle Knights forward Pauli Pauli suffered a dislocated hip in a car accident on Wednesday.
Pauli remains in Gosford Hospital, with the NRL club confirming he has suffered a dislocated hip.
The 22-year-old was involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the M1 Pacific Motorway in Sydney.
Knights coach Nathan Brown denied reports Pauli had also suffered a broken leg, and he expects the forward to have plenty of visitors.
"Our medical staff are with him at the moment, and his welfare is obviously important to us," Brown said.
"Football clubs are like families and all the guys obviously care for Pauli.
"I'm sure he'll get plenty of visitors."
Pauli played 15 NRL games for the Knights last season, crossing for one try.
