Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is still recovering from a broken leg, which means he is probably scrolling through Twitter more often than he typically would.
Carr noticed a tweet from police alerting of a missing Oakland child and gave it a simple retweet, affording the message a wider audience owing to his near-250,000 followers on the social media platform.
It did not take long before an Oakland citizen, who saw the alert, notified police with information and the authorities soon found the three-year-old safe.
And it looks as though Carr's intervention may have been telling.
@OPDChris great news! Thank you for letting me know they are safe! God bless y'all!-- Derek Carr (@derekcarrqb) January 15, 2017
