The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver Jordy Nelson will not play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, coach Mike McCarthy announced on Friday.
Nelson suffered fractured ribs in the team's wild-card win against the New York Giants last weekend.
He was a long shot to play against Dallas, but the Packers wanted to wait and see how he progressed throughout the week before making an official decision.
Nelson will still travel with the team, according to McCarthy.

The Packers will have a strong group of receivers, even without Nelson.
Randall Cobb has returned to the line-up, and scored three touchdowns in the opening playoff round. Davante Adams has been in fine form, finishing just three yards shy of 1,000 during the regular season while scoring 12 times and adding 125 yards and a touchdown against the Giants.
The biggest beneficiary of Nelson's absence could be Geronimo Allison, in whom McCarthy said: "I have a lot of confidence in him."
