Steelers place Porter on leave as NFL investigates arrest

Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter has been placed on leave "pending further review," Pittsburgh general manager Kevin Colbert said Monday.

Porter was arrested Sunday following the team's 30-12 AFC wildcard playoff win over Miami Dolphins after he was accused of assaulting a doorman.

He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

The Steelers released a brief statement following the arrest: "We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and we will have no further comment until we get more details."

The Steelers play the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday in the divisional round of the playoffs.
