Raiders QB Cook to make first career start against Texans
Oakland Raiders rookie quarterback Connor Cook will start their Wild Card game against the Houston Texans on Saturday.
Cook will become first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to make his first career start in a postseason game.
Oakland seemingly had its playoff hopes crushed when third-year quarterback Derek Carr broke his fibula in the team's Week 16 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Backup Matt McGloin stepped in briefly, but he too went down with an injury last week against the Denver Broncos, leaving Cook as the Raiders' best option under center.
Cook, a fourth-round pick from Michigan State, threw for 150 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the team's regular-season-ending loss after replacing McGloin just before half-time.
