James DeGale would have no problem stepping into the ring with Andre Ward should he unify the super-middleweight belts by beating Badou Jack on January 14.
DeGale has risen through the super-middleweight division over the past two years after focusing his attention on fighting in America, the 30-year-old winning the IBF title from Andre Dirrell in May 2015 and successfully defending it against Lucian Bute and Rogelia Medina.
He faces WBC champion Jack in New York later this month in a bout that also has The Ring title up for grabs.
And should he succeed in unifying the division, DeGale has set his sights on a big-money fight with the undefeated Ward - despite the two-weight world champion hinting at retirement again on Wednesday.
"I want the biggest fights, the biggest risks, the biggest money. All the titles. That's what I want," DeGale said in a conference call with reporters.
"I come through this, I'm willing to fight anyone, including Andre Ward. The weight is no problem. I want to be challenged. I want to be in the fights where I'm the underdog for once."
The 2008 Olympic middleweight champion is confident he has got enough in his locker to see off the challenge of Jack - who has successfully defended his belt against George Groves and Bute since beating Anthony Dirrell in April 2015.
"I'm number one in the division and Badou Jack wants the spot," he added. "We'll have to see if he can take it
"He's pretty basic but he's good at everything. He ain't got no special effects, nothing fancy. Everything's just straightforward but very, very good.
"And in the ring I can imagine it to be very hard when you're standing in front of him, because he's very technical and he's got a good jab. He works the body well, got a good defence.
"[But] I'm faster than Badou Jack, he's going to be shocked."
Jack also goes into the fight confident, though, despite his last bout with Bute being declared a draw after 12 rounds.
"I've been training really hard," he said. "I can't wait for fight night to prove that I'm the best.
"Come fight night it's just me and James DeGale, the past don't matter... it's gonna be a war."
