Bordeaux-Begles' Top 14 play-off aspirations suffered another blow when they were beaten 19-16 at struggling Lyon on Friday.
Raphael Ibanez's side have now lost three successive matches in the French Top flight after third-bottom Lyon edged a victory at Matmut Stadium which moved them 10 points clear of the relegation-zone.
Penalties from Freddie Michalak and Simon Hickey ensured the two sides were level at 3-3 at the end of a tight first half.
Hickey doubled his tally from the tee to put Bordeaux back in front, but Michalak responded with another penalty before wing Toby Arnold scored the opening try of the game.
Fly-half Michalak converted and added another three points after Ian Madigan's penalty, before Jacques Louis-Potgieter sent another penalty between the posts with time running out to put lowly Lyon 19-9 to the good.
Yann Lesgourgues came up with Bordeaux-Begles' solitary try right at the end and Madigan made it a three-point game by adding the extras, but the visitors were unable to stop the rot.
