Mark Nicholas is out of hospital and looking to return to work for Channel Nine as soon as possible after falling ill during the Boxing Day Test between Australia and Pakistan at the MCG.
The former Hampshire captain turned commentator was taken for tests after suffering with abdominal pains on the opening day of the second Test in Melbourne.
English broadcaster Nicholas was said to be sweating profusely as he was carried out of the commentary box, but was reported to be on the mend later in the day.
A further update was provided shortly before the start of day two, with Nicholas advised by his employers not to return to work until Wednesday at the earliest.
"Mark was discharged from hospital last night," a Channel Nine spokesperson said.
"While he wants to return to the Nine commentary team today [Tuesday], his bosses have insisted on a day's rest.
"He has again thanked everyone for their good wishes and support."
