Wade, Thornton ease through openers

James Wade and Robert Thornton eased into the PDC World Darts Championship second round on Wednesday.

Sixth seed Wade, a three-time semi-finalist at the tournament, enjoyed a 3-0 win over Ronny Huybrechts at Alexandra Palace in London.

Wade finished with a 93.83 average and sealed his win with a brilliant 141 checkout.

Thornton was less impressive but still got past Zoran Lerchbacher 3-0.

The Scottish ninth seed averaged 88.55 and had a checkout percentage of 23.08 against Lerchbacher, who had earlier beaten Simon Stevenson in the preliminary round.

Meanwhile, eighth seed Mensur Suljovic was too good for Ron Meulenkamp in a 3-0 win.
