The Columbus Blue Jackets won for the ninth game in succession, while the Chicago Blackhawks made it five consecutive NHL victories.
A 4-3 overtime-win against the Vancouver Canucks helped the streaking Blue Jackets stay hot on Sunday.
Seth Jones scored the winning goal for the Blue Jackets on away ice in Vancouver.
The Blackhawks netted four unanswered goals to beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1.
Meanwhile, the New York Islanders and their poor form continued against the Ottawa Senators.
TORTORELLA CELEBRATES MILESTONE
With Columbus' win on Sunday, head coach John Tortorella claimed his 500th career victory.
He became the first American-born coach to the milestone against his former team the Canucks, who sacked him in 2014.
"I'll readily admit as I have gone through a little bit of a grind here the last few years and trying to get consistent with a team, I am trying to enjoy it more," Tortorella said. "I am on the back nine, that's just the way it is. I know it's not going to be forever, so I do want to try to enjoy it."
BLACKH AWKS ROLL ON
Amid their congested schedule, the Blackhawks won again to stay unbeaten.
Playing their sixth game in 10 days, the Blackhawks downed the Sharks thanks to 33 saves from goaltender Scott Darling.

ISLANDERS LOSE FIFTH STRAIGHT
The Islanders and their form slump extended after falling to the visiting Senators.
New York conceded two first-period goals and despite levelling things up in the second, the Islanders were unable to keep up with Ottawa.
Elsewhere, the New York Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in a shoot-out, the Winnipeg Jets were 4-1 winners over the Colorado Avalanche, while the Boston Bruins blanked the Los Angeles Kings 1-0.
FLYERS LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK
After their winning streak was halted at 10 games, the Philadelphia Flyers return to action against the Nashville Predators on Monday. The Carolina Hurricanes meet the Detroit Red Wings, while the Edmonton Oilers take on the St Louis Blues.
