Defending champions Hirscher and Gut claim victories

Marcel Hirscher leads the men's Alpine Skiing World Cup overall standings by 218 points following his victory in Sunday's giant slalom in Alta Badia.

Slalom specialist Hirscher is seeking a sixth consecutive overall title and took another step towards achieving that goal, winning with a combined time of two minutes and 32.89 seconds from his two runs ahead of Mathieu Faivre and Florian Eisath.

Meanwhile, in Val d'Isere, defending women's overall champion Lara Gut was victorious in the super G.

Gut won by just 0.13 seconds from Tina Weirather and is now just five points adrift of overall leader Mikaela Shiffrin.
