Replay comes to Usak's rescue, Besiktas beaten by Partizan

Updated:

Muratbey Usak Sportif prevailed by the narrowest of margins in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday, as opponents PAOK saw a last-gasp winning shot ruled out upon a video review.

PAOK looked to have completed a thrilling comeback from 13 points down, courtesy of Zanis Peiners' three-pointer.

However, replays showed Peiners had not released the ball before the buzzer, meaning Usak - for whom Zach Auguste missed two free throws with four seconds remaining - held on to record a crucial 78-77 win in their bid to progress from Group C.

Usak now hold a 3-6 record, while PAOK are 4-5 and outside the play-off spots on points difference.

Neptunas Klaipeda continue to dominate Group C, an 86-67 victory over Openjobmetis Varese taking them to 8-1, while Ventspils climbed to fourth as a strong second-half showing saw off Rosa Radom.

The heavyweight clash in Group E saw Partizan inflict only a second defeat of the season on leaders Besiktas, who were limited to just seven points in the fourth quarter and lost 86-71. AEK trounced Proximus Spirou Charleroi 89-69.

Tenerife are one point clear at the top of Group D after a 89-72 triumph over Mornar in Montenegro. The meeting of fellow high-fliers SIG Strasbourg and Sidigas Avellino saw the former battle to a 63-57 win.

In Group B, there were successes for leaders Le Mans Sarthe, Kataja and CSM CSU Oradea.
