Fernando Alonso has poured cold water on reports linking him with a move to Mercedes, claiming a world title with McLaren is his "only goal".
Alonso was among the favourites to fill the seat vacated by Nico Rosberg after the new world champion announced his surprise retirement.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff went as far as to confirm Alonso was in his thoughts as he sought a team-mate for Lewis Hamilton, with Valtteri Bottas and Pascal Wehrlein the other frontrunners.
But two-time champion Alonso attempted to put an end to the speculation during a visit to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking on Tuesday.
"I believe in this project, I'm committed and I want to be world champion with McLaren Honda. That's my only goal," he said.
Alonso has endured a frustrating couple of seasons since returning to McLaren, although this year's 10th-place finish in the drivers' standings was a marked improvement on 17th in 2015.
