Sale Sharks have added Castleford Tigers star Denny Solomona to their squad for the European Champions Cup.
Solomona has two years remaining on his contract, but failed to turn up for pre-season training with Castleford, who have received the backing of the Rugby Football League as they seek to retain the player.
Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond said Solomona, who scored a Super League record 40 tries for the Tigers in 2016, had "resigned" from rugby league in a bid to seal a code switch.
Although there has been no official confirmation of the 23-year-old joining the Sharks, he has been added to their squad for the Champions Cup.
Josh Charnley will also be available for the upcoming continental fixtures having completed his switch from Wigan Warriors after victory in October's Super League Grand Final against Warrington Wolves.
Sale are bottom of Pool 3 after losing their opening two matches against Scarlets and Toulon. Their next fixture sees defending champions and Premiership leaders Saracens visit the AJ Bell Stadium.
