Loni Uhila will leave Super Rugby champions Hurricanes to join Top 14 leaders Clermont Auvergne next year.

The big prop, nicknamed the 'Tongan Bear', has signed a one-year deal with the option of extending his stay in France by another two seasons.

Uhila won the Super Rugby title in his first campaign with Hurricanes and his performances caught the attention of wealthy Clermont, who he will join following the conclusion of the 2017 edition of the southern hemisphere competition.

Clermont have also secured the services of Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw and Castres wing Remy Grosso.
