Baron breaks new ground in Neptunas romp, Nymburk rack up record total

Updated:

Jimmy Baron set two Basketball Champions League records as Neptunas Klaipeda improved to 7-1 with a 103-88 victory over Muratbey Usak Sportif.

Baron poured in 10 three-pointers on Tuesday - smashing the previous best of six - on his way to a 42-point haul, the highest individual tally in the competition's inaugural season.

The American's stunning performance also enabled Group C leaders Neptunas to break the team record for the most three-pointers in a match, with 18.

A record also fell in Group A, as CEZ Nymburk thumped Bakken Bears 114-70 to set a new benchmark for the most points scored in a Basketball CL fixture. Byron Allen and Vojtech Hruban contributed 35 and 28 points respectively for the victors.

AS Monaco recorded their seventh win in the same pool, courtesy of a hard-fought 70-64 success at Fraport Skyliners.

The other Group C matches brought comfortable victories for PAOK and ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, against Rosa Radom and Openjobmetis Varese respectively.

Rion Brown almost emulated Baron with 40 points in Kataja's 88-69 triumph over Maccabi Rand Media, while Umana Reyer Venezia and Pinar Karsiyaka were also victorious in Group B.

MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg's five-match winning streak in Group E was brought to an end in overtime by Partizan, who now boast a 4-4 record. Oostende have also won half of their eight matches after getting the better of Group D rivals KK Mornar.
