Mathieu Faivre secured his first World Cup giant slalom win following a nerveless second run that saw him overhaul Marcel Hirscher at Val d'Isere.
The Frenchman trailed Hirscher by 0.01 seconds after two stellar opening efforts from the duo, but Faivre was half a second quicker on the next run.
Faivre's success put an end to Hirscher's hopes of a fifth giant slalom win at Val d'Isere since 2009.
And it was a good day overall for France, with Alexis Pinturault completing the podium ahead of compatriots Thomas Fanara and Victor Muffat-Jeandet.
Austrian Hirscher tops the overall standings, while Faivre climbs to fifth after collecting 100 points.
