George Groves has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for German boxer Eduard Gutknecht, who remains in a coma following their bout earlier this month.
After Groves triumphed in their one-sided super-middleweight fight at Wembley Arena on November 18 by unanimous decision, Gutknecht reportedly collapsed in his changing room and was taken to hospital.
The 34-year-old underwent surgery and remains under observation, with Groves hoping to help ease the situation for his family through an online appeal.
"Out of respect for Eduard and his family's privacy I haven't tweeted anything about his medical condition so far," Groves wrote in a Twitter post.
"However, he is still in hospital in a coma after having surgery the night of our fight 12 days ago.
"He's a husband and a father and the money raised will go towards helping his family be with him at this difficult time.
"My team are also in the process of organising an auction with celebrity items people can bid on, and all money raised will also go to Eduard's family.
"Thank you to my friends and family who have already donated, it's much appreciated."
