O'Brien wins fly-half battle as Dragons leapfrog Edinburgh

Jason Tovey was beaten on his return to the Dragons as the Welsh region leapfrogged Edinburgh in the Pro12 table with a 27-19 victory.

Tovey left Rodney Parade in March, having scored a record tally of 951 points for the Dragons.

Yet he was unable to inflict damage on his former club on Sunday as home fly-half Angus O'Brien scored a try, two penalties and three conversions.

Just four points came from the boot of Tovey before he was replaced by Duncan Weir early in the second half.

O'Brien's try was the fourth in a frantic nine-minute spell that also saw Carl Meyer and Sam Hobbs cross for the Dragons and Chris Dean claim Edinburgh's second five-pointer.

Bill Mata went over with 16 minutes remaining to get Edinburgh back within one score, but O'Brien's second penalty made the game safe.
